UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson recently stated that negotiations have begun for a super fight against UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw.
Dana White is the UFC President and he says the bout between both champions is no longer happening.
?(Johnson vs. Dillashaw) is not happening," is what White texted to Lance Pugmire of the LA Times.
There were addition rumors that the champion versus champion encounter would occur at UFC 226, which already has a super fight in heavyweight kingpin Stipe Miocic defending against light heavyweight title holder Daniel Cormier.
White also stated to Pugmire that the flyweight champion is still recovering from a shoulder surgery, so Dillashaw will get another opponent to fight.
"It was never made. Plus, D.J. is hurt and out for a while," White texted. "We are working on (finding Dillashaw a new opponent)."
The only fighters in the bantamweight division top five that are free for a fight at the moment include former UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt (#1), former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz (#2) and Raphael Assuncao (#3). The only member of that three man group that Dillashaw hasn?t defeated is Cruz, who actually defeated Dillashaw to win the UFC Bantamweight Title at UFC Fight Night 81.
