Despite having never competed inside of the Octagon, fighter Pietro Menga has been released by the UFC.
Menga was supposed to make his promotional debut at UFC On Fox 26, but the fighter missed weight and the bout with Tim Elliott was called off.
The released fighter issued a statement to MMA Fighting, saying that the setback won?t stop the competitor from achieving his dreams:
?My Christmas gift was getting cut but it won?t break me. I?ll fight in Europe somewhere versus some top opposition around February, March, then again if I have to and hopefully earn a rightful contract with a bit more notice than 12 days. Gutted, but this setback won?t stop me from achieving my dream and light up that division.?
MMA Fighting is also reporting that when Menga accepted the fight against Elliott on late notice while training for an audition for the upcoming season of the UFC Ultimate Fighter. It is unlikely that Menga will get a chance to get back on the season of the UFC Ultimate Fighter in which he was trying out for before the UFC?s late notice call.
Prior to his almost debut with the UFC, an undefeated Menga had competed in a variety of promotions, such as Bellator MMA, BAMMA, Full Contact Fighter and Ultimate Cage Championships.
