UFC Signs Two Heavyweights For Upcoming Show

MMA

The UFC has added two new names to one of their least populated divisions, as the company signed two Heavyweights for August 6th's Salt Lake City Fight Night show.

The company has contracted the “Vanilla Gorilla” Chase Sherman (9-1), a 26-year old fighter out of Alan Belcher MMA in Mississippi. Sherman has a victory over UFC veteran Jack May, which went down at Titan FC 38 in May. Sherman is currently riding a four-fight winning streak after dropping a 2014 fight to Alex Nicholson, who would also go on to sign with the UFC.

Also signed to the UFC is “El Blanco” Justin Ledet (6-0, 1 NC). The 27-year old undefeated fighter competed out of Houston, Texas and has faced primarily journeymen ahead of his UFC debut with the aforementioned Sherman. Ledet fought in May for Legacy Fighting Championship, but the fight ended in under 100 seconds after an accidental eye poke caused a no-contest.

The two men will compete on the preliminary portion of a UFC Fight Night show that features Yair Rodriguez vs. Alex Caceres in the main event, Cub Swanson vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri in the co-main event, as well as former UFC Middleweight title challenges Thales Leites on the show. Sherman vs. Ledet isn't the only Heavyweight tilt on the night's event, as Marcin Tybura is also scheduled to face off with Viktor Pesta.

UFC Fight Night 92 takes place on August 6, from the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. The main card will air live on Fox Sports 1.
