A clash of undefeated featherweight competitors is the latest addition to the UFC 214 card as #9 Brian Ortega takes on #11 Renato Moicano.
Ortega (11-0-0-1NC) has already earned a trio of victories under the UFC banner, having defeated Thiago Tavares, Diego Brandao and Clay Guida. Ortega is also a former Resurrection Fighting Alliance Featherweight Champion, defeating Keoni Koch at RFA 12 in 2014 to win the gold. Ortega is returning to action for the first time in over a year, as his last bout was the win over the aforementioned Clay Guida at UFC 199.
Moicano (11-0-1) has also earned three wins in UFC competition, with his victories coming over Tom Niinimaki, Zubaira Tukhugov and Jeremy Stephens. Moicano is also a longtime veteran of the Jungle Fight promotion, where he earned a win over fellow UFc veteran Iliarde Santos. Moicano is also competing for the second time this year, which is the first time he has fought twice in a calendar year since 2014.
UFC 214 takes place on Saturday, July 29 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
