USADA Denies Payoff Rumors Regarding Jon Jones

MMA

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones failed a USADA issued drug test in line with UFC 214, having his win against Daniel Cormier overturned to a no contest.

There has been no other punishment given to Jones yet from USADA, who has been awaiting said punishment for over a year now.

Apparently, rumors have surfaced in recent weeks saying Jones has paid off USADA to resolve the drug testing offense.

USADA would issue the following statement to MMA Junkie to dispel those rumors:

?In relation to some media and social media comments we have observed, USADA wishes to clarify that under no circumstances do we receive payments as part of the resolution of cases.?

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) is the only governing body that has fully punished Jones at this point, with the fighter having his license to fight in the state of California revoked, while also being fined $205,000.

Jones has failed two drug tests during his tenure with the UFC, with the first test costing Jones a year of his professional MMA career. Jones could be facing a four year suspension for the second failed drug test, but USADA actually has to announce a punishment, which would also be retroactive to the date of the failed test.
