Victory FC Loses Title Fight; Gets New Main Event

Tonight’s Victory Fighting Championships 53 card has undergone a last minute change as the middleweight title fight between champion Mike Rhodes and Ron Stallings has been pulled from the card after Rhodes started suffering from an illness (MMA Junkie first reported the story).

The new main event will be a bantamweight division bout that will be pitting Raufeon Stots up against UFC veteran Jeff Curran.

Stots (6-0-0) has fought three times under the Victory Fighting Championships banner, defeating Demetrious Wilson, William Joplin and Charlie DuBray. Stots also competed once in the promotion for an amateur bout, defeating Nolan DeMers by TKO at Victory FC 43. Stots also competed once in the Legacy Fighting Championships, defeating Mitch White by unanimous decision.

Curran (36-17-1) is a UFC veteran who will be making his Victory FC debut in this fight and he will be doing so on a two fight losing streak. Curran has previously challenged for the Resurrection Fighting Alliance Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Pedro Munhoz at RFA 9. Curran’s last run in the UFC last from 2011 to 2012, he lost fights to Scott Jorgensen and Johnny Eduardo.

Victory Fighting Championships 53 takes place tonight form the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo, Iowa with Raufeon Stots and Jeff Curran headlining.
