According to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, top contender Volkan Oezdemir is getting the next shot at his title.
If the two were to come to battle in the Octagon, the top contender says he can finish the champion in two minutes or less.
“I think in the first two minutes, that’s my goal anyway. I’m going to make all of my training so I will be able to knock him out,” Oezdemir said on The MMA Hour. “I have no time for this. I don’t want to get injured, I’m just going to knock him out really fast.”
Cormier got wind of the claim made by Oezdemir and issued the following response on Twitter:

Even though he feels that he could be the champion in two minutes or less, the top ranked Oezdemir still has a lot of respect for Cormier.
“That was something huge. I’m really humbled. Cormier is somebody I respect a lot. The fact that he called me out, made a poll and his fans wanted me – that’s something that mans even more to me. If the fans choose me, it means a lot to me. I’m really happy with everything that’s happening right now. The year 2017 is a great year for me and 2018 is going to be even better for sure,” says Oezdemir.
Despite the face that both champion and challenger have agreed to a fight, the UFC has yet to make it official.
