WBA Gold Featherweight Title Bout Added To March 2 Showtime Boxing Card

There has been a change in the upcoming Showtime Championship Boxing card this weekend.

Premier Boxing Champions announced that a WBA Gold featherweight title bout between Bryan De Gracia and Eduardo Ramirez will be on the March 2 Showtime-televised card. The event will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Another fight was going to be on the televised-card, Edner Cherry vs. Ricardo Nunez, but it was canceled after Cherry withdrew due to a medical issue. According to the PBC press release, the winner of De Gracia vs. Ramirez fight will “be in line to face" WBA "Regular" featherweight champion Xu Can. Can won the belt in January when he won a 12-round decision against Jesus Rojas on a Golden Boy Promotions card streamed on DAZN.

De Gracia, a once-beaten fighter from Panama, has won his last four fights since suffering his lone pro defeat at the hands of Jorge Sanchez back in 2017. A former WBA Fedecaribe featherweight titleholder, De Gracia is also ranked No. 2 in the organization's rankings at 126 pounds.

Ramirez once challenged for the IBF featherweight title held by Lee Selby at the time, but Ramirez lost a wide unanimous decision in their title bout in December 2017. Since that loss, Ramirez fought once which was a first-round stoppage win over Carlos Jacobo last November.

The March 2 card will be headlined by the WBA "Regular" junior middleweight title bout between titleholder Brian Castano and former world champion Erislandy Lara. Also on the card is former WBC heavyweight title challenger Luis Ortiz taking on Christian Hammer.
