Jessica Eye, Nina Ansaroff Score Big Upsets Over Top-3 Opponents At UFC 231

MMA

UFC 231 had a women's fantasy matchup of sorts for the Flyweight title, and a nice supporting cast on the undercard of the show as well -- with title implications of their own.

Unranked UFC Fighters to Watch out for in 2024

Claudia Gadelha sits at #3 in the UFC's Strawweight rankings, and has never fought the champion Rose Namajunas. A win over #11 Nina Ansaroff isn't exactly one that will turn heads as a marquee bout, and it's also one she just wouldn't get. A huge underdog, Ansaroff overcame the juggernaut in Gadelha and outpointed the perennial contender on her way to a unanimous decision victory.

Ansaroff, the girlfriend of UFC Champion Amanda Nunes, has won three consecutive UFC fights after starting out at just 0-2.

Top-15 fighter Jessica Eye long said that she'd be more at home at Flyweight, blaming that on much of the stuttering her career experienced at Bantamweight. Her opponent, Katlyn Chookagian, served as the official backup fighter for the night's co-main event title fight. Jessica Eye didn't seem to care much about that position, as she outpointed the #3-ranked Chookagian and called out UFC President Dana White for a title shot. She also accused Joe Rogan of not having him on his podcast.

After going winless in six fights prior to moving to Flyweight, Eye has went undefeated thus far in the weight division.
