WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje A Free Agent

MMA

Current World Series Of Fighting Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje is now a free agent, this is according to a report issued by Fox Sports.

While the fighter is now a free agent, it does come with one restriction, which is that the WSOF has the right to match an offer that any other promotion gives to Gaethje.

The promotion has lost several high profile champions to free agency in the last few months, as former light heavyweight/middleweight champion David Branch, former bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes and former flyweight champion Magomed Bibulatov have all left the company to go elsewhere.

In the case of Branch and Bibulatov, they opted to sign with the UFC and Moreas is still a free agent at this time.

During his four year tenure with the WSOF, the free agent has earned some notable victories over Gesias Cavalcante, Brian Cobb, Dan Lauzon, Nick Newell, Melvin Guillard, Luis Palomino (twice), Brian Foster and Luiz Firmino.

Although there is no indication at this time where the fighter may sign if he chooses to leave the WSOF, he could enter a UFC Lightweight Division ruled by champion Conor McGregor or a Bellator MMA Lightweight Division ruled by champion Michael Chandler.
