Zab Judah’s most recent fight has left the former world champion hospitalized, but is not in a coma as rumors about the boxer’s condition was running rampant on social media.
After Judah lost a fight to Cletus Seldin in Verona, New York on June 7, Judah was taken to a hospital where it was revealed that he has some bleeding in his brain. John Lepak posted on Twitter that Judah is awake and making progress while Jolene Mizzone, Vice President of Operations for Main Events said Judah’s mother told him that the boxer was never in a medically induced coma and that he is currently resting. This came after unsubstantiated rumors about Judah being in a coma made its rounds across social media.

Star Boxing also posted the following statement on the boxer’s condition:
“Zab Judah is in the hospital. He is awake and communicating and making progress. At the present, he & his family are just requesting privacy with respect to anything further and will have update Tuesday. We are all praying for him and his family and appreciate everyone’s concern.”
Judah faced Seldin in the main event of a Star Boxing card from the Turning Stone Resort and Casino for the vacant NABA junior welterweight title. Judah was stopped in the 11th round after taking multiple body shots from Seldin throughout the bout and was hurt during a flurry from Seldin, causing the referee to step in.
The 41-year-old Judah has been fighting professionally since 1996, winning world titles as a junior welterweight and welterweight. Judah has faced many top boxers throughout his career including Kostya Tszyu, Miguel Cotto, Cory Spinks, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Joshua Clottey, Danny Garcia, Amir Khan and many more.
