Naomi Says Getting The Women's Title Belt To Glow Was A Trial And Error Process

Naomi's entrance, coupled with her glowing SmackDown Women's Championship, was one of the more unique aspects of the show, but the former champion did admit it was a chore trying to figure out a way to make the belt glow.

Naomi was on Chris Jericho's "Talk is Jericho" podcast and said she did not realize how big the glowing SmackDown Women's Championship would become.

"Just getting that approved, I didn't realize how impactful that would be or how much of a buzz it was. This is my moment, I just want to do something unique and put a piece of me into it. I never thought about how much I was changing it," Naomi said.

When it came to asking for approval from Vince McMahon, Naomi said McMahon was in favor of the idea. Finding the best way to make the title glow did went through a trial and error process that included glow paint before ultimately settling on the LED lights the title would end up having.

"I asked Vince if I could make it glow and he said yeah. After that, it was just simply me and HHH trying to get it to glow, but after the few paints that didn't work, they kind of gave up on it. We tried glow paint, we tried bright UV paint. It would show a little bit, but not enough to translate on camera. I'm going to get this. I don't care if it's lit for one day, I want this championship to glow. The only thing else that could work is if we put lights on it and the tricky part was getting the LEDs on it, and making sure it still looks like the women's championship," Naomi said.

Naomi would end up losing the title to Natalya at SummerSlam ending her reign that began at WrestleMania 33. The full podcast can be seen at this link.
