There was a time that UFC President Dana White stated there would never be any women competing in the UFC, now the president of the world’s largest MMA promotion is saying that there will be no new weight classes for women to compete at in the UFC.

Dana White recently sat down with the folks at Globo to discuss the possibility of newer women’s weight classes coming to the UFC.

“Obviously it’s been very popular and the women have done very well, but as far as the expansion I think it’s inevitable as the sport continues to grow,” White said. “But no plans in the near future, no.”

One of the more popular female fighters in the UFC is current Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, who has been pleading with the UFC to make a women’s featherweight division.

“As far as a heavier division, no I don’t see that happening,” White said. “I don’t see that happening any time soon, but the 115-pound division continues to get bigger.”

While it seems like there is no hope at this time for a women’s featherweight division, a women’s flyweight division may be coming sooner rather than later, according to Dana White.

”If 15 and 35 continue to grow, then yes,” White said. “We can do a 125.”

For the record, there are currently a total of ten weight classes in the UFC right now, with eight belonging to the men and two belonging to the women.
