Weekend news and notes- CM Punk Grappling, ROH developmental, more

Just a reminder, I’ll update this throughout the weekend.

– Bellator 220’s Phil Davis tells us that he was interested in pro wrestling coming out of college, but was never recruited by WWE. Look him up and you’ll find that surprising.

– We’re told the new ROH developmental deals range from $250 per week to $50

– CM Punk competed in a blue belt (2-4 years experience roughly) seniors grappling tournament this months and lost both of his matches by wide margins to more experienced opponents

– Todd Neal, an influential member of the Kentucky wrestling commission, stepped down last week. He has a pro wrestling background, and famously shut down Barstool Sports’ RNR in Lexington a while back.

– We’re told referee Rod Zapata had travel issues this weekend and missed a show, forcing Chad Patton to referee the whole thing.
