WWE Release News (Update)

I’ve decided to compile the release news into one post

Tye Dillinger’s release has indeed been finalized. As of this morning several within the company were told that it hadn’t yet been granted. WWE hoped to continue the relationship, but we’re told Tye was firm in his stance and was finally granted his release minutes before WWE.com’s story. He’ll be subject to a 90-Day non-compete clause. Almost everyone we’ve spoken to within the company expects him to land in AEW. Dillinger was a surprise call-up in general as he, Asuka and Joe were among some of the names that were never expected t be called up but forced WWE’s hands by getting over. Dillinger was a popular veteran presence in the locker room.

ORIGINAL (this morning):  Fightful Select can confirm that as of now, WWE has not yet granted Tye Dillinger’s release. It’s worth noting that he asked for his release Tuesday, and WWE hasn’t been on the road since.

In addition, WWE announced the release of TJP, who had been trying to get more on-screen time as recently as this week. TJP had a history of being tough to work with, even with Vince McMahon himself, and had been taken off the road at the end of 2017. It wasn’t told to me that the new tattoos he got contributed to his release, but he didn’t tell anyone, which got him heat.

Hideo Itami’s release wasn’t a surprise to anyone, as he was told he’d be granted it when he asked. WWE felt as if they didn’t get the person they hired in KENTA, and Itami wasn’t happy with his direction in the company. They parted on good terms.

All of these people are subject to 90-day non-compete clauses, which expire just before All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing. When I spoke to people within AEW weeks ago, there was no initial interest in bringing in Hideo Itami, at least how he appeared in WWE.

There has been speculation from wrestlers and employees over who the next could be to go, as TJP and Arn Anderson weren’t public in their requests for release, meanwhile several names who openly wanted out of their deals are still there. We’re working to learn more about the Arn Anderson situation.
