Priscila Cachoeira Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery

MMA

Priscila Cachoeira made her UFC debut earlier this month at UFC Fight Night Belem, getting brutalized before finally tapping out to a rear naked choke from Valentina Shevchenko.

Besides suffering the defeat on the night, a clearly destroyed Cachoeira also suffered a meniscus and ACL tear in her right knee.

MMA Fighting is now reporting that Cachoeira underwent surgery this past Friday in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and the procedure was a success.

Cachoeira is going to be able to train again in about six months, which means that she could potentially fight again by the end of the year.

While Cachoeira may always remember her UFC debut, it was the controversy that surrounded the fight that may get remembered most. Referee Mario Yamasaki oversaw the encounter and was heavily criticized for not stopping the fight sooner, but he said the massacre was allowed to continue so Cachoeira could show a warrior spirit.

The corner for Cachoeira was also put under the microscope for not throwing in the towel for their fighter, but Cachoeira would come to their defense in the end.

Prior to coming to the UFC earlier this year, a now recovering Cachoeira had been undefeated as a professional MMA fighter with four of her wins coming by KO/TKO.
