A lightweight division rematch is going to be headlining this coming July’s Bellator 181 card as Patricky Freire will be taking on Derek Campos.
Freire (17-8-0) won the initial meeting between himself and Campos, that win came by way of second round TKO at Bellator 117 in April 2014. Freire has won four of seven fights since the first meeting with Campos, earning notable wins over Ryan Couture, Saad Awad and Josh Thomson. Freire has previously challenged for the Bellator MMA Lightweight Title, losing to current champion Michael Chandler at Bellator 157.
Campos (18-6-0) will be entering the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with those victories coming over the trio of Melvin Guillard, Djamil Chan and Derek Anderson. Campos will be headlining his first ever Bellator MMA card and the fighter currently holds a 7-4-0 record in the promotion. Campos has won a total of four fights since the initial meeting with Freire, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Melvin Guillard by second round knockout at Bellator 149.
Bellator 181 takes place on Friday, July 14 from the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma with Patricky Freire and Derek Campos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event.
