Just because two wrestlers who currently appear on Lucha Underground also will be working Impact Wrestling's Slammiversary pay-per-view this Sunday does not mean that there is a working relationship between the two companies.
PW Insider reported Lucha Underground actually had zero involvement in the negotiations that led to Drago and El Hijo Del Fantasma (King Cuerno in Lucha Underground) being named to the four-way match for the TNA Tag Titles at Slammiversary. The luchador duo also will be working the next round of TV tapings for Impact.
The lucha libre promotion AAA actually negotiated the appearance of the two competitors; Drago and Fantasma's characters both are owned by AAA, and any talent that appears on Lucha Underground only can appear on Impact if AAA owns their rights.
Previously, The Wrestling Observer reported on the interesting set of politics surrounding the four-way tag match. Impact has been working with both AAA and The Crash, arch-rival promotions in Mexico. Konnan, who is working heavily behind the scenes with The Crash and has had several wrestlers from AAA jump to that promotion, including Pentagon and Rey Fenix, had been adamant he would not work with anyone from AAA.
Impact, meanwhile, is planning to run a few live events later this year as a co-branded effort with AAA.
