Report: Johnny Mundo Headed To GFW

Johnny Mundo may just be the next addition to the GFW roster.

Mundo was advertised for the StocktonCon 2017 pop culture convention, but a tweet sent out by the convention stated that Mundo will no longer be appearing due to contract obligation with GFW, even though he did not have any prior contractual commitments with the promotion. StocktonCon 2017 runs on August 19 and 20, which runs around the same time as the next set of Impact tapings, which run from August 17-20.

Mundo appeared for GFW In the first week of August at non-televised live events in the northeastern part of the United States. In his GFW debut on August 5, Mundo teamed with James Storm and Moose to defeat Ethan Carter III, Lashley and Eli Drake in Staten Island, New York. He teamed with Storm and Moose again the following day in Bridgeport, Connecticut, beating Carter, Lashley and Low Ki.

Other former WWE stars that are a part of GFW include Alberto El Patron and Lashley. Mundo's wrestling home for the past few years has been Lucha Underground. Mundo isn't the only Lucha Underground star to possibly sign with GFW as Rey Mysterio is also rumored to be talking to GFW about potentially signing a contract.
