Report: WWE Hopes Cameos From Women's Division Can Boost Lagging 205 Live Audience

WWE is reportedly hoping its expanded women's division can give 205 Live a needed boost in attention and viewership.

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE plans to work its female wrestlers onto the all-cruiserweight show on a regular basis in an attempt to spark interest. 

Airing exclusively on the WWE Network, 205 Live debuted in November as a showcase of the cruiserweight division, which was spotlighted during last summer's Cruiserweight Classic. However, 205 Live has struggled to find an audience. One batch of viewer numbers from the end of May showed the most recent episode of 205 Live finished a distant 19th in Video-On-Demand viewings for the week, ranking behind the prior week's episode of NXT, two pay-per-views from earlier in 2017, a pair of months-old episodes of "Table for 3" and even a single episode of the "Monday Night Wars" documentary series. 

There has been a female presence of some shape, form, or fashion on 205 Live since its inception. That began with Alicia Fox, who has been embroiled in a lengthy storyline that, at various junctures, has caught up Cedric Alexander, Noam Dar and Rich Swann. Sasha Banks was added to the mix recently, dove-tailing the rivalry between Dar and Swann with the one between Banks and Fox on Raw.
