Report: WWE Is Interested In Signing Rob Gronkowski

WWE reportedly has interest in signing the two-time Super Bowl Champion.

New England Patriots Tight End, Rob Gronkowski, has been involved with the WWE on a couple of occasions in 2017. Gronk's most memorable moment wih the company came at WrestleMania 33, when he ran over Jinder Mahal, costing Mahal the 'Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal' and helping his longtime friend Mojo Rawley, become the winner of the bout. Following the Patriots' loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl 52, Rob Gronkowski stated that there is no definite answer as to if he will be returning to the NFL next season.

Gronk's friend, current SmackDown Live talent Mojo Rawley, recently stated to TMZ that "Its not a matter of if, its a matter of when" while speaking on Gronkowski's potential future in the WWE.

According to Dave Meltzer in his latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is interest on WWE's part to sign the 8-year NFL vet if he decides not to return to football. Here is a quote from the Observer, by way of Reddit

"This comes at the same time that reports from wrestling indicate WWE is willing to offer a similar style deal to Gronkowski that they offered to Ronda Rousey. Given that would be making far less money than he would make in football, it’s hard to say, but he’s been hurt a lot in football and while wrestling full-time is very hard on the body as well, a part-time deal isn’t so bad. Gronkowski obviously likes wrestling, as he’s been at many WWE events when Rawley was there, including in developmental, and of course, was already part of one WrestleMania, which led to Rawley winning the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, and then they did nothing with him afterwards, so it was more a way to get Gronkowski and ESPN and mainstream sports coverage than to get one of their guys over to star level."

WWE loves bringing in talents from other sports to bring that main-stream media to the company. Ronda Rousey is the latest example of that and if Rob Gronkowksi does decide to hang up his cleats, there could be a spot for him in the WWE according to the report.
