Report: Yoel Romero Suing Goldstar Performance Products

MMA

Yoel Romero is less than a month away from facing former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold for the vacant UFC Interim Middleweight Title in the main event of UFC 221.

The middleweight contender is going to have another fight on his hands because Forbes is reporting that the UFC star is suing Goldstar Performance Products. Romero is suing the company because he alleges that their supplements were tainted, which led to a failed drug test in 2016, which led to the fighter getting a six month suspension.

USADA had tested a second sample of the supplement that Romero failed a test for and the results said that it was tainted as well.

Romero has filed the suit in the New Jersey Superior Court, no court date has been set at this time.

It was a Shred RX capsule that was tainted, which Romero claims that Goldstar Performance Products also knew was tainted before he took it. Romero also claims the failed drug test cost him an opportunity at the UFC Middleweight Title.

UFC 221 takes place on Saturday, February 10 from the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia with Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
