Rick Glenn Was Fighting For His Job At UFC 208

Rick Glenn earned his first win under the UFC banner at UFC 208, where he defeated Philippe Nover by unanimous decision.

The former WSOF Featherweight Champion, who recently left his job at Costco, felt like he was fighting for his UFC gig at UFC 208.

“I needed to win,” Glenn said to MMA Junkie. “Two losses in a row in the UFC is not good. I was fighting for my job, and he was doing the same thing. I lost my debut against Evan Dunham a few months ago and I needed this. I needed to win no matter what. Didn’t win like I wanted to, but I got the ‘W,’ and I’m thankful for that.”

Glenn now has a 1-1-0 record under the UFC banner, but his first fight saw him come in as a late replacement. His scrap at UFC 208 fight saw him compete with a complete training camp.

The featherweight star has been competing as a professional MMA fighter for over a decade now, but his biggest goal thus far was accomplished at UFC 208.

“I’ve been fighting and training for over 11 years now,” Glenn said. “And it’s been my goal to fight, and compete, and win in the UFC and I finally got the ‘W.'”

Glenn, who signed with the UFC in 2016, only defeated one UFC veteran prior to signing with the promotion, with that win coming over Johnny Case at Midwest Cage Championships 29 in 2010.
