Robert Whittaker Promises No Mercy Against Michael Bisping

Robert Whittaker became the UFC Interim Middleweight Champion when he defeated Yoel Romero by decision at UFC 213.

The win now gives Whittaker a fight with UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping and Whittaker promises to deliver no mercy against the British slugger.

“We’re going to touch gloves now; it’s fate,” Whittaker said after the event. “We have to fight now. And when we do, there’s going to be no mercy.”

Whittaker and Bisping were supposed to meet a few years back at UFC 213, but the bout was canceled due to an injury. Even though they had a heated confrontation after the event, the interim champion still has respect for Bisping.

“I haven’t gotten any bad vibes from Michael,” Whittaker said. “He hasn’t done anything crazy to try to get in my face. I think he respects me, as well. He is who he is. And he’s going to do what he’s going to do. And I’m just going to be me. I go into the fight with the same amount of respect for every athlete. And I’m going to be me in that fight. I’m going to be me on the media. Outside the fight, I’m going to be me. I’m going to be me, and he can work with that.”

There is no date set yet for the fight and Bisping is still recovering from a knee injury.
