Could The Rock join the likes of Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan as WWE legends who "ran for President?" According to him, it's not a joke.
The Rock spoke to NFL great Michael Strahan on Good Morning America Wednesday to promote the new season of Ballers. During the interview, Rock, real name Dwayne Johnson, made sure to hammer home that he wasn't joking around when it came to the idea of running for office.
"It's very real. The idea of me becoming President one day has become a legit thing to some people," Rock told Strahan. "As time goes on, we take the temperature of the American people. If it's an overwhelming, positive, strong 'we want you to run for President', and if I felt that I can step up to the plate and become a tremendous leader and make a real difference and make change, I would do it."

Those affiliated with professional wrestling have met mixed results when trying to get into politics. Jesse "The Body" Ventura beame Governer of Minnesota in the 1990s, while Linda McMahon failed her bid at a senatorial spot. Current WWE announcer Jerry "The King" Lawler also failed in his attempts to become Mayor of Memphis.
The Rock would by far be the highest profile professional wrestler to make an attempt to run at President -- at least seriously. In 1998, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan declared his intent to run for President, somthing that never panned out.
The Rock would be 48 years old in 2020, the next chance he'd have to run for Presidency. This would make him the eighth-youngest President in United States history.
