The Rock Says Samoa Joe Is A Future World Champion

The one Samoan in WWE who's not related to The Rock still counts him among his greatest fans.

According to Dwayne Johnson, Samoa Joe is a future top-tier WWE Champion.

The Rock took to Instagram to praise a few of WWE's wrestlers. Among those singled out was Samoa Joe, who recently debuted on the main roster. When Samoa Joe debuted he was used by Triple H to attack Seth Rollins, which resulted in a serious Rollins injury. The Rock would express the world-wide veteran Samoa Joe is a throwback to a tougher era in professional wrestling. 

 

Been following this man's wrestling career for years now. I'm very happy to see him (finally) in the WWE making a global name for himself. Many wrestling and fight historians will attest to this, that at one time in 1970's, pro wrestlers were some of the biggest and toughest men on the planet. Well before UFC and MMA made its worldwide footprint, there was a hard core wrestling style derived from "Catch wrestling" which then spawned lots of shoot styles in wrestling training. Samoa Joe reminds me of that rare legit tough MF throwback style of wrestler. Happy for him and his family. It's his time. He's earned it and one day we'll be referring to him as WWE World Champ. On Sunday, Samoa Joe defeated Sami Zayn at WWE Fastlane, this was his first pay-per-view match with WWE. Also at WWE Fastlane, Raw General Manager Mick Foley asked Samoa Joe to not get involved in Kevin Owens' championship match because of the apparent relationship between Samoa Joe, Triple H, and Kevin Owens. He came to the aid of Owens last night on Raw in a brawl with Chris Jericho, then picked up a count-out victory over Y2J later in the night.
