ROH Officials Not Happy With Nigel McGuinness Signing With WWE

PWInsider reports that Ring of Honor officials have been made unhappy by Nigel McGuinness's signing with WWE. When they announced his departure as ROH's Matchmaker, they were apparently hoping that he would make an eventual return to commentary on ROH TV. They didn’t find out that he was leaving the company until this past weekend.

McGuinness was not under contract with Ring of Honor.

WWE hired McGuinness to be the co-host of the new WWE United Kingdom Title tournament on the WWE Network, which will be broadcast over two days on January 14 and 15. He will call the matches with Michael Cole and William Regal. There had been rumors going around that he might be headed to the Performance Center for 30-day tryout as a guest coach but it appears that McGuinness is headed to the commentary desk instead. Presumably, if he gets high marks from the top brass, and if the UK Title Tournament leads to a weekly show on the Network, he will continue in this role as it expands.
