Sage Northcutt doesn’t have his next fight lined up just yet, but after a loss to Mickey Gall at UFC On Fox 22 last year, Northcutt is heading back to the lightweight division. However, Northcutt did get an education during his time at welterweight.
“You know, obviously, anytime you lose you learn from it,” he said on The MMA Hour. “Not that you regret it but it’s a learning experience, and I’ll be back down at 155 now. I’m a natural 155er. So, that’ll be a good weight class for me.”
Northcutt also has a return date in mind for when he would like to re-debut in the lightweight division.
“Yes sir, [I don’t have an] exactly a set date, but maybe sometime in the next three months, four months, and back at 155. So I’ll be learning the most I can until then, and improving. I don’t have an opponent in mind, it’s who the UFC gives me,” he said. “But definitely going to be at 155.”
Northcutt earned a record of 1-2-0 as a welterweight in the UFC (8-2-0 overall during his MMA career), with a win coming over Enrique Marin, while the two losses came to Bryan Barberena and Mickey Gall.
