Sara McMann Wants A Title Shot

MMA

Sara McMann competed and won at UFC Fight Night 105, where she defeated late replacement opponent Gina Mazany by first round submission.

The female bantamweight star has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title, but she feels that she’s earned another shot at the gold.

“I am asking them to fight more frequently, and I don’t care if I have to fight somebody else before,” McMann told MMA Junkie. “But I don’t have to fight somebody else before in order to prove it. I’m on a three-fight win streak. I’ve done it against black belts, other title contenders – you know, people who are in the top ranks. Good fighters, in different skill sets. I don’t feel like I have to prove that I’ve earned that because I don’t see anybody else who’s doing that, currently. Everybody else has either had losses, or hasn’t strung it together, or aren’t fighting the top-tier girls.”

The Olympic wrestler was originally set to fight Liz Carmouche at the event, but the former title challenger pulled out due to injury. McMann wanted to fight either way at UFC Fight Night 105, even after losing a top tier opponent.

“I had a top-tier girl opponent at first,” McMann said. “I willingly accepted that fight on a five-and-a-half-weeks notice. She ended up pulling out and, you know, I’ll fight whomever you put in front of me. But if I fight again, it’s not because I feel like I need to prove that. It’s because I want to fight more frequently because I’m a fighter.”

The Olympian has only suffered three losses in her professional MMA career, those three losses came to Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes.
