When fans tune into Bellator 180, they are going to be hearing a new announce team in the form of Mauro Ranallo, Mike Goldberg and Jimmy Smith.
According to Bellator MMA CEO Scott Coker, the promotion now has a better announce team than any other MMA promotion has.
“We’re very happy to have him (Mike Goldberg) on board,” Coker said at a Bellator 180 conference call. “I think it’s the best announcing team in MMA right now.”
Ranallo has been active in the MMA and pro wrestling scene, while Goldberg’s primary announcing duties over the last two decades have been with the UFC.
Coker also acknowledges that the fans who tune into Bellator 180 next week are going to have a completely different experience than they have ever had before.
“We worked a deal out with Goldie because we felt that he was an amazing talent, and he has been the voice of MMA for a long time,” said Coker. “But how he and Jimmy (Smith) and how he and Mauro (Ranallo) and Jenn Brown and Brendan Schaub – how they all interact – it’s going to have a different experience than I think what you’re used to.”
Bellator 180 takes place on Saturday, June 24 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
