Smackdown Viewership A Bit Down From Last Week

Despite facing stiff competition, Smackdown only was slightly down from last week's rating.

Showbuzz Daily reports that the show scored 2,481,000 viewers, down from 2,493,000 viewers. The show scored the sixth slot for the night on cable in terms of the 18-49 demographic, with CNN's coverage of the Alabama special election, NBA and Curse of Oak Island scoring the top five slots.

PHL Sports Division Director Says Philadelphia Would Love To Host WrestleMania Again, Will Engage With WWE

The show was heavily focused on Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens looking to "occupy" Smackdown, much in the same vein that Daniel Bryan did a few years ago during his angle with The Authority. Daniel Bryan, after seeing all the complaints from the duo, said that he would be the second guest referee alongside Shane McMahon for their match against Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton at Clash of Champions Sunday.

Another part of the show had The Singh Brothers tried to convince AJ Styles that they were through with Jinder Mahal. They, along with Mahal, tried to trap him, but he managed to send them packing. Backstage, Jinder Mahal later assaulted Styles, leading to their match on Sunday for the WWE title.

Nothing is set for next week's Smackdown, as Clash of Champions will go down this Sunday.
