UFC fighter Thiago Alves recently pulled out of UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh, where he was set to be in the co-main event against Mike Perry.

While Alves is expected to return to the Octagon down the line, the fighter is going to be doing so without his dog by his side.

Marcos Parrumpinha is one of Alves’ coaches and he states that the UFC fighter’s dog passed away during Hurricane Irma.

“His house was out of power, so he had to move to the gym with his family. It was some tough times,” Marcos Parrumpinha told Portal do Vale Tudo. “He had a Bulldog that ended up dying because he couldn’t breathe due to the air conditioner. He tried to fly to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, but all flights were cancelled.”

Hurricane Irma has impacted many people in the state of Florida, with the loss of homes, pets, personal objects and everything else affecting all those where the hurricane hit.

Alves’ last Instagram post prior to the hurricane touching down in Florida shows the UFC star prepping his home for impact.
