The Cage Warriors Lightweight Title is going to be defended in the main event of Cage Warriors 88 as champion Chris Fishgold defends against Alexander Jacobsen.
Fishgold (16-1-1) is going to be making the third defense of his championship, having previously defended it against Nic Herron-Webb and Jason Ponet. Fishgold won the title at Cage Warriors 77, when he defeated Adam Boussif by first round submission. Fishgold will also enter the fight on the strength of a six fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in well over two years.
Jacobsen (8-1-0) has won two of three fights under the Cage Warriors banner, with those two wins coming over the duo of Tim Wilde and Tom Green. Jacobsen has only seen just one of his nine professional MMA fights go the distance and it was his last fight at Cage Warriors 84 that went all three rounds. It has been over three years since Jacobsen suffered the only loss of his professional MMA career and that came to Rioo Ibrahim at Cage Warriors 66.
