TJ Dillashaw Says He’s Not Afraid To Defend Title Like Conor McGregor Is

UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw won the title for a second time when he defeated Cody Garbrandt in the co-main event of UFC 217.

The bantamweight champion says he isn’t afraid to put the gold on the line, unlike UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

“I’m not a Conor McGregor. I’m going to be active defending my belts. I’m not afraid to fight,” Dillashaw told Flo Combat.

McGregor has held four titles in his professional MMA career (two with UFC and two with Cage Warriors), but has never defended any of them.

Dillashaw also wants a long awaited bout with UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson, whom Dillashaw says is scared to fight him.

“They always talk about Demetrious Johnson and what record he’s about to break. They always talk about Demetrious Johnson and the win streak he’s on or Demetrious Johnson being No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. But they’re never talking about Demetrious Johnson and who he’s fighting,” Dillashaw said. “Now he has a chance to lose, and that’s a scary thing for him. I think he’s scared, and I want to prove that.”

Johnson recently underwent shoulder surgery and there is no word yet as to when he will fight again.
