Tonya Evinger Disappointed In UFC 214 Performance

Former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Tonya Evinger came up short in her attempt to become the UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion at UFC 214.

Even though she took the highly favored Cyborg into the third round at UFC 214, the fighter is still disappointed in her performance.

“I felt great, really no excuses,” Evinger said at the UFC 214 post-fight press conference. “I just feel like I fought like a pussy. But it is what it is. I’m just disappointed I didn’t at least go five rounds. I don’t know why I went down, I don’t know why I didn’t get up. I don’t know.”

The fight did mark the UFC debut for Evinger, who had been dominating Invicta FC and the regional MMA scene for over a decade now.

When she gets another shot to compete inside the Octagon again, the fighter would like to return to the bantamweight division.

“Yeah, next fight is definitely at 35. Obviously, I’ll fight anybody, so let’s do it,” says Evinger.

Evinger remains just one of four women to compete in a women’s featherweight division fight in the UFC, with the others being current featherweight champion Cyborg, former champion Germaine De Randamie and former bantamweight champion Holly Holm.
