Tyron Woodley Wants To Box Andre Ward

UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley hasn’t stepped foot in the Octagon since defending his title against Demian Maia at UFC 214.

The MMA champion wants to cross over into the world of boxing and he wouldn’t mind stepping into the ring against Andre Ward.

“I would love to box but I don’t know if there’s an opportunity that’s gonna present itself. The only person I’d be interested in boxing would have to be one of the best of the best. It would have to be like, Andre Ward,” Woodley said to TMZ.

Woodley has no boxing experience to speak of, while Ward is one of the most decorated boxers to ever step into the ring.

Despite his want for a boxing match against Ward, the welterweight champion wouldn’t mind just training with the boxer as well.

“I would rather train with Andre Ward - he’s a friend of mine and we’ve been talking about training for a while but if it was an opportunity to make some money I can’t see Andre or myself turning that down,” says Woodley.

If Woodley does make the transition from the UFC to the boxing world, then he would join other UFC veterans like lightweight champion Conor McGregor, Nam Phan and Tim Hague to make the jump.
