UFC 220: Miocic vs Ngannou Gate, Attendance, and Bonus Information

MMA

The first UFC pay-per-view event of 2018 is in the books. For the first time in two years, the UFC returned to Boston with UFC 220. The event, headlined by two title fights, drew 16,015 fans for a live gate of $2.45 million.

In the main event, Stipe Miocic successfully defended his heavyweight title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Francis Ngannou. The co-main event saw Daniel Cormier stop Volkan Oezdemir in the second round to retain the light heavyweight title.

It was the fifth UFC event held at the TD Garden and marked the highest attendance ever for the company. However, it did fall just short of the $2.8 million gate that UFC 118 drew. That event was headlined by a lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn. Randy Couture against James Toney was also on the card.

The last event at the TD Garden, a Fight Night event headlined by T.J. Dillashaw against Dominick Cruz, drew 12,022 fans.

The featherweight scrap between Calvin Kattar and Shane Burgos won Fight of the Night honors. Kattar won that bout with a TKO finish 32 seconds into the third round. Both fighters will receive a $50,000 bonus. Daniel Cormier and Abdul Razak Alhassan won Performance of the Night honors. Cormier for his victory over Oezdemir and Alhassan for his first round knockout of Sabah Homasi. They too will receive a $50,000 bonus.
