UFC Veteran Josh Grispi Sentenced To 5 1/2 Years In Prison

UFC veteran Josh Grispi is going to be serving to be serving the next five-plus years in a Massachusetts prison after being found guilty on 25 counts of assault and gun charges.

This is according to a press release issued by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

The charges come from an August 2014 incident when Grispi assaulted his wife Kaitlyn by pulling on her hair and hitting her on the head multiple times. The victim suffered a sprained wrist, a concussion and several other injuries were also suffered by the victim.

Three days after the initial assault, police were sent to the pair's home after receiving an anonymous tip, which is where they found a host of guns that belonged to an unlicensed Grispi. The UFC vet would be arrested on gun charges and domestic assault, but would make bail a short time later.

“Domestic violence cases are difficult to prosecute and involve a particularly vulnerable set of victims, and this case was no different,” district attorney Anthony Cruz said in a statement. “This was a severe case of abuse, not only the physical injuries Mr. Grispi inflicted, but the emotional abuse of isolating the victim from family. I am hopeful that with the time in jail and proper programming, Mr. Grispi can learn to control his anger and emotions and become a productive member of society.”

Although Grispi was found guilty of 25 charges that were against him, the fighter was also found not guilty on some other charges. Those other charges included accusations of making the family dog attack his wife, three counts of assault & battery with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition.

“It’s the worst case of domestic abuse I’ve ever seen,” Harvey said.

Kaitlyn, who was on the receiving end of the abuse from Grispi, has stood by her husband throughout the trial and even testified on his behalf.

Grispi last competed over four years ago at UFC On Fuel TV 7, where he suffered a decision loss to Andy Ogle.
