Cerrone “Died A Little Bit” When Lawler Fight Was Cancelled

There have been some pretty good fights announced for the historic UFC 205 card, but one of the most anticipated fights of them all was going to be a welterweight division fight between Donald Cerrone and former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.

Plenty of MMA fans were excited when the fight was announced and just as quickly as it was given to us, it was taken away after Lawler was pulled from the fight. Nobody is probably feeling worse about the whole situation right now than Cerrone, who talked to the folks at MMA Fighting about how he found out the bout was cancelled.

“Robbie (Lawler) came to me face to face, you first called me and said I want to talk, tell you something somewhere is about the Metropolitan nine is that we’ll be right there and I came over and he told me face to face that I (Lawler) wanted to let you know man to man that this fights not happen. He’s like yeah, just not going to do it. I (Cerrone) said this magical garlic, the big like a little piece like if I was to step aside, little piece of fan died and be like damn, that’s a fight that would love to watch. You know so suck, but you know he’s got some shit going on and want to let his head, a little more from the, you know, the knockout he just had and so hey I can’t make a fight, so I was like all right shit, well thank you for at least giving me nine weeks to find somebody…hopefully, still.”

As you can see by the comments coming from Cerrone, he is devastated that the bout got cancelled, but he seems to want to remain on the card to fight another opponent.
