Charlotte Flair Receives The Most Hate Online Among Wrestlers According To A New Study

According to a study from CryptoManiaks, Charlotte Flair receives the most hate online among wrestlers.

The study notes that of all the sports studied, wrestlers received the most overall hate. The study analyzed well over 4 million social media posts, from X, Facebook, Reddit and Instagram across leagues, with the top 15 from each sport covering Football, NBA, the NFL and WWE.

The sample size for wrestlers is listed at 35,000 and Charlotte received 36.4% negative responses. Nia Jax was second with 35.3% negative comments. Mercedes Mone (29.6%), Saraya (29.3%), and Tegan Nox (28.6%) rounded out the top five.

CM Punk was the top male receiving negative comments at 27.9%.

Data was collected from April 30, 2024 to April 30, 2025.

From CryptoManiaks:

Of all the sports featured in our study, we found wrestlers faced the highest levels of online abuse from fans.

When it came to wrestlers, women were significantly more likely to be targeted than men, with the top 5 most targeted athletes all being female.

According to our study, WWE superstar Charlotte Flair not only faced more online harassment than any other wrestler, but also the most of any athlete in our study, with a staggering 36.4% negativity rating in our sample.

Flair was closely followed by fellow WWE superstar Nia Jax (35.3%), who has also been outspoken in the past regarding poor treatment from fans.

Rounding out the top 5 were AEW star Mercedes Mone (29.6%) and former AEW & WWE stars Saraya (29.3%) and Tegan Nox (28.6%) – all of which would have topped any other category in our study, highlighting the extreme levels of abuse and harassment female wrestlers face from fans.

Other highly targeted people included WWE’s CM Punk, Jade Cargill and former NXT star Cora Jade, along with rival wrestling company AEW stars Chris Jericho, and The Young Bucks.

While it’s important to consider some wrestlers who portray bad guys or ‘heels’ on screen may receive online harassment due to their TV character’s actions, several major WWE stars have publicly spoken about abusive or threatening behavior from fans both online and in person.

Charlotte was out of action for all of 2024 with a knee injury. She made her return at WWE Royal Rumble 2025.
