Valentina Shevchenko On Pena Trash Talk: "Reality Is Different"

Valentina Shevchenko will be headlining her second straight UFC event this weekend at UFC On Fox 23, where she will be taking on Juliana Pena. Shevchenko says that her opponents talking means nothing -- and Pena has done plenty.

“You can say whatever you want, but the reality is different,” Shevchenko told MMA Junkie. “The main thing that I focus on are actions. Every time I look at actions. Words mean nothing.”

Talking aside, Shevchenko is doing nothing but preparing for her opponent.

“In this kind of sport, we have to have to have our minds very cold, without emotion,” Shevchenko said. “So I understand. My job is to do everything to win the fight. I’m focused on my preparation and my condition. And in general, it doesn’t matter who said what. One thing that matters is who’s the winner.”

In her first main event fight, Valentina Shevchenko defeated former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm, that fight was also the main event of a 2016 UFC on Fox card, Shevchenko won the fight by unanimous decision.

UFC On Fox 23 takes place on Saturday, January 28 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado with Valentina Shevchenko and Juliana Pena headlining, the main card airs live on Fox.
