Valentina Shevchenko was not happy with the way the judges picked Amanda Nunes as the winner at UFC 215. Needless to say, Shevchenko wants another shot at Nunes.
In the UFC 215 post-fight presser, Shevchenko said she wholeheartedly felt that she won the fight and that she should have a third match against Nunes. Shevchenko lost to Nunes via split decision in the main event of UFC 215, where Nunes' UFC Women's Bantamweight Title was on the line, but felt that she had won rounds two, three, four and more than half of the final round.
“I want my title, and I’m ready to take one more fight against Amanda because I don’t agree [with the decision], and I know it was my fight,” Shevchenko said. “If I have to fight her next, it will for sure be my victory. It’s difficult to say, because the UFC has to make the decision. But I will ask for the rematch.”
Shevchenko did not rule out the possibility of appealing the fight result. Even if she went through with it, Shevchenko said she knows these types of results rarely are overturned, stating that it is very hard to change the judges' minds from the original result.
“If I can [make an appeal], I will... I respect the decision of the judges, but I think it was my fight," Shevchenko said.
Shevchenko's first fight against Nunes last year also was a decision loss, but the first fight had all three judges pick Nunes as the winner. Shevchenko also revealed that she dislocated her finger in the first round of the fight, but said it didn't really matter throughout the course of the fight.
