In a battle of unbeaten welterweight prospects, Eddie Ramirez and Kevin Watts both had plenty on the line in their main event bout on FS1.
After Ramirez looked slick in taking the opening round on the scorecards, Watts evened things up in Round 2, when a flashed right hand with his back against the ropes sent Ramirez to the canvas for the first time in his young career.
But Ramirez would rally quickly, then begin to dominate the fight behind a plethora of punishing body work. It began to truly take its toll on Watts in Round 6, with Watts’ corner asking him before Round 7 if he wanted them to stop the fight.
Watts wanted to continue, but was quickly finished in Round 7 as Ramirez trapped him against the ropes, wouldn’t let him out and put him to the canvas for good.
The win improved Ramirez to 15-0 (10 KO), continuing his rise in the welterweight ranks.
