War Games Returning For NXT Takeover Houston Match

War Games will make its WWE debut in Houston, and for the NXT brand no less.

After weeks of teasing a possibility of former ROH World Champion Roderick Strong joining Undisputed Era's Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish, he rejected their overtures. Instead, he announced at Wednesday's set of NXT tapings that he'll be teaming up with the Authors of Pain to face Undisputed Era and the trio of Sanity.

The announcements didn't stop there. NXT General Manager William Regal appeared on the ramp to reveal that the match would be a two-ring Wargames match made famous in WCW, but not seen since the company closed down in 2001.

Despite his absence from the tapings due to a promotional India trip, Triple H publicly announced the news on Twitter.

For well over a decade, the War Games concept has been pitched to Vince McMahon, who has repeatedly rejected it. Triple H has been a big proponent of the match.

WWE NXT Takeover: War Games takes place November 18 from the Toyota Center in Houston Texas. Fightful.com will have full, live coverage of the event, including a post-show podcast.
