Wilson Reis Wants A Title Shot

MMA

Wilson Reis entered UFC 208 as a top 5 flyweight in the UFC and he left the event with a unanimous decision win over the unranked Ulka Sasaki.

Reis, who has earned a grand total of 6 wins under the UFC banner, believes that he should be next in line for a title shot at UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson.

“It has to be (Johnson next),” he said to MMA Junkie. “I feel that I deserve this fight. He owes me this fight. We signed a bout agreement. I did a full camp for it. I showed up fight night, and he didn’t. And I want him next. I feel that I deserve it.”

Reis was scheduled for a title shot once before against Johnson at UFC 201, but Johnson withdrew from the fight due to injuries. Reis is also the first and only Elite XC Flyweight Champion, also believes that the UFC just tossed him into a fight with Sasaki after being inactive for so long.

“They threw me this fight,” Reis said. “They put me on the shelf for almost seven months. So, I feel right now, they gave me this guy, I beat him, and now give me the title fight.”

Johnson hasn’t competed since the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale, where he successfully defended his title against Tim Elliott.
