Adam Copeland Says Goldberg Has The Best Spear Ever
Adam Copeland credits Goldberg for the spear.
Throughout the years, a number of wrestlers have used the spear, either as a finisher or a trademark move.
Adam Copeland has used the spear throughout his career, and is identified as one of the wrestlers most closely associated with the move.
Speaking to Shakiel Mahjouri of SHAK Wrestling, Copeland was asked to play a gauntlet game where he was given two names and he picked who has the best spear. When the choice of Bron Breakker vs. Goldberg came around, Copeland effectively ended the game.
“To me, Goldberg is the answer to all of it because he’s the guy that put it on the map. He’s the guy who did it first and garnered that first reaction. I remember, I was working Gangrel and he goes, ‘Why don’t you hit me with a spear like Goldberg does?’ ‘Okay.’ That was the beginning of it. It got a reaction, so I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll use it here and there,’ and little by little, it became a thing. It’s Bill. The guy who did it first,” he said.
He was even given the choice of Goldberg and himself, and he went with the former Atlanta Falcon.
Copeland is one-half of the AEW Tag Team Champions alongside Christian Cage, who has also used a spear during his career.
