AJ Styles: My Biggest Fear In WWE Was That I Would Be Released

AJ Styles says he always feared being released by WWE.

At the 2016 Royal Rumble, AJ Styles made his official debut for the company. Styles would go on to have a successful run in WWE, winning multiple world titles and eventually retiring earlier this year at the Royal Rumble.

During a recent edition of The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles was talking about Sheamus’ departure from WWE. During the conversation, he shared his one fear that he had throughout his WWE run.

“My biggest fear was that I would be asked… well I would be released in some way. Other people think you’re AJ Styles why would you even think that way? Because I don’t see myself the way that you see me. So that was always my biggest fear is they would release me. For me that would be… I’d be embarrassed that being like, ‘Oh he’s not good enough at his job so he’s worth losing.’ So, I was always worried about that. Even as good as the career went, but there was the time where I wasn’t doing much at all with anything.”

Elsewhere in the podcast, Styles commented on CM Punk’s physique. Fans can read his full comment here.
