AJ Styles Says His Match With Randy Orton Was Supposed To Open WrestleMania 35, ‘That Got Changed Because Brock Wanted To Go’

AJ Styles recalls facing Randy Orton at WrestleMania 35.

During his ten year run in WWE, Styles shared the ring with Orton in 30+ different matches. Their only premium live event singles match was at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019.

On the latest episode of WWE Retrospective, Styles talked about the lack of crowd reaction to the match before revealing that Brock Lesnar pushed for his match with Seth Rollins to kick off the show.

“Now, this match, it was good. But, most don’t remember it cause nobody was making noise cause in this match, they were being blinded by the lights. Why were they being blinded? Cause I do believe we were either second or first but that got changed because Brock wanted to go. Apparently, we follow the rules of Brock Lesnar when it comes to deciding who goes first or second.”
