Big E Said He Decided To Write A Book After ‘Beautiful’ Reception To His Player’s Tribune Article

Big E explains why he decided to write a book.

Earlier this month, the former WWE Champion made headlines when he announced that he’ll be publishing an autobiography in early 2027. This news excited fans, especially after his emotional Player’s Tribune article in 2024.

As it turns out, the response to that piece inspired Big E to start writing his book.

“For me, the idea of sitting down to spend x amount of months writing about my life, that was something that felt too self-aggrandizing. I never really thought that was something that appealed to me. But, I think what changed things for me is that Player’s Tribune article.” Big E said on the South Kongress Podcast. “When that came out and the reception was so beautiful — for me, the crux of that was my mental health journey. Having people reach out and talk about — I read this thing on Reddit where someone struggled with alcoholism and decided after reading the article to go get help. For me man, I think about what kind of impact I’m pouring out. I think early in my career, pursuing wrestling is kind of selfish. It takes so much of your time, you have to throw so much of yourself into it. I feel like in many ways, I got to live out so many of the things I dreamed of doing, I got to do so much that was about me, I kind of filled that bucket. There’s so much I still want to do, but now in this phase of life and career, it’s important for me to have some kind of giveback and to be able to help people navigate life with my experiences. It was like, okay, how can I contribute now to try and shape the world in a better way. Often times, when we think about changing the world, we think about it in these global terms, needing billions of people to subscribe to something or buy something. Sometime, that impact can be felt in your own circle. If it’s getting wrestling fans to understand the importance of therapy or seeking help, for me, that’s a worthwhile pursuit. When I got that positive feedback about my mental health journey, I thought, man, this is something I want to throw myself into it and something I want to do more. Just that reception from fans is something that really inspired me to say, you know what, it’s time to sit down and write about it.”
