Callum Newman: When Jake Lee Locks In, He’s Great

Callum Newman speaks highly of Jake Lee.
NJPW1972.com rolled out a new interview with former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman.
The focus of the interview was Newman’s road through the 2026 G1 Climax tournament. He stated that he’d like to see his United Empire stablemate Jake Lee make it to the A block semifinals. That led Newman to speak highly of Lee.
“I’d like to see Jake (in the A block semifinals).” Newman continued, “Everywhere he’s been, he’s been the top guy, but in New Japan he’s had the worst injuries of his career and come back as this insane character.” He added, “I experienced being hurt and being stuck in a tiny apartment going crazy but that was only a few months. For him, it was over a year so it’s no surprise he came back crazy. But when he locks in, he’s great.”
The G1 Climax tournament resumes on July 18th in Hokkaido, Japan. The tournament started on July 11th at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
